MUMBAI: Another long standing record of the Beatles has been broken as 26-year-old Scottish singer Emeli Sande’s debut album entered its 63rd week at the UK charts. Sande’s ‘Our Version of Events’ broke the 50-year-old record previously held by the Fab Four’s debut ‘Please Please Me’. Their debut album spent 62 weeks inside the top 10 between its release in 1963 and 1964.
Sande’s run at the UK charts began last year when it was released in February 2012, and went on to become that year’s biggest seller. The album has sold 1.82 million copies in the UK and was number one on the Official Album Chart for 10 weeks and has never dropped out of the Top Ten.
It also broke the 100,000 sales in a week tally on three separate occasions.

Sande’s other claim to fame include performing at the opening and closing of the London Olympics and winning two Brit Awards.
On breaking the half century old record, Sande tweeted: “ This record is so significant to me for many different reasons. I’m so happy and I’m thankful to you all. We made history!! #OVOE”
