MUMBAI: Good news for fans of the band SANAM, as the quartet is all set to release a few original tracks in 2015 and also plans to hold more performances. The decision came after their followers on social networking sites demanded the band to do so.
“We want to perform more, release original music and compose better songs; this is what we have planned for the upcoming year. Our fans all across have been asking for original music and we have kept them waiting for a while now, so yes, this is the right time,” said the band’s frontman Sanam Puri.
The band is almost four and a half years old and Puri says that it has not been an easy journey for them. “When we started, the independent scene in India was yet to emerge, but now slowly and steadily things are finally falling in place as people have become receptive. The industry in India is extremely different as here it is all about the songs in Bollywood, but in the west it is all about albums,” commented the ‘Ishq Bulava’ singer. The last year was rather successful for the band as it toured quite lot for shows and its singles were also appreciated by audiences.

The band recently released a single ‘Mary Did You Know’, for Christmas as a part of their independent project. “It is December, the month of Christmas and I loved this song and have been singing it since last seven to eight years. So we thought why not make our own cover version of the same,” he added. The cover is available on the band’s YouTube channel.
