MUMBAI: The ever growing music space has a new entrant in the free music service space. The new entry is the established South Korean company electronics Samsung, with its free music services ‘Milk Music’. It will be available for Galaxy smartphone users to download, but for a limited period.
The space is already crowded with services like Pandora, Spotify and IT company- Apple’s iTunes, and like the other stations, it will allow six song skips per hour per station.
‘Milk Music’, which is powered by the radio service Slacker, will offer some 200 ad-free radio stations to US customers with Samsung Galaxy devices. Within three days, the app has more than 100,000 download on Google Play Store. The app has so far received 4.3 ratings.
Samsung Telecommunications America president and chief executive Gregory Lee said that Milk introduces a fresh approach to music that reflects their innovation in leadership and their focus on creating best-in-class consumer experiences.
He further added, “We are offering consumers amazing, rich music experiences built around what matters most to them and their lifestyle.”
This free radio service will have no ads. It will be have fine-tuned stations based on popularity, novelty and song favourites. The platform is offering over 200 genre stations curated from a music library of over 13 million songs. The feature ‘Spotlight’ will offer a curated selection of handpicked by music tastemakers and influencers.
