MUMBAI: Singer Roopkumar and Sonali Rathod will lead the people of Aurangabad, to create a Guinness World Record for the maximum number of people in any country singing their National Anthem in unison.
On 25 January, celebrities and Aurangabadkars will pay a record-breaking tribute to 100 years of the National Anthem. An independent adjudicator from Guinness World Records will be present at the venue in Aurangabad (Divisional Sports Complex at Garkheda) at 8 am to observe and certify the successful creation of a world record.
Accompanying the Rathod duo will be Prashant Damle, Kailash and Aarti Surendranath, Tushar Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson) amongst others. Several other leaders and public figures are likely to lend their voices on the momentous occasion.
The initiative, supported by Lokmat Media will commemorate the completion of 100 years of Jana Gana Mana since it was first sung on 27 December 1911 at the Calcutta Session of the Indian National Congress. It was declared the Indian National Anthem by the Constituent Assembly on 24 January 1950.
