MUMBAI: Legendary rock ‘n’ roll band, The Rolling Stones are set to release a documentary that catalogues the band’s colourful 50 years history. The film is due for release in selected British cinemas in October and will premiere on HBO on 15 Nov.
‘Crossfire Hurricane’ – the title of the film taken from the opening lines of their classic ‘Jumpin Jackflash’ will feature historical footage and commentaries by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood and former Stones Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor, reports said. The film, directed by Brett Morgen, spans the entire career of the renowned rock band, and features over 50 hours of interviews.
The film will document the group’s transformation from “the band everybody hated to the band everybody loves” from their beginnings as the anti-Beatles, to the hedonism of the 1970s and all the way up until today, band frontman Jagger said.
“The film is ‘not an academic history lesson’ but invites the audience to experience the Stones’ nearly mythical journey from outsiders to rock and roll royalty,” director Morgen said.
There are reports that the band plans to celebrate their 50th anniversary with four concerts in November- two each in London and Brooklyn. The band is reportedly being paid $ 25 million for the performance. Billionaire Richard Branson and Australian promoter Paul Dainty will promote the show.
