A local Bengaluru lad, RJ Sudesh from Radio Mirchi’s ‘Dilkhush’ Show, made a number of attempts before being accepted as an RJ. Sudesh entertains listeners on his show from Monday to Saturday between 2 pm to 5 pm. His peppiness gets one into the world of love as he plays romantic tunes and adds a pinch of romance to the otherwise dreary afternoons.
The RJ’s boy-next-door charm and wit keeps listeners in splits with his whacky tips on how to handle issues related to love and romance. Maintaining a positive attitude throughout the show, Sudesh is an extremely optimistic person. Excerpts of an interaction with Radioandmusic.com’s Tarachand Wanvar
Why are you an RJ?
During my student days (around 2007) I did not have a TV at home. I used to listen to radio all day long and one day I called a radio channel. As I spoke to the RJ, we ended up having a conversation and I remember telling her that I wanted to be an RJ and then she replied saying “Arre wah, Khud hi laga de, ban jageya”. Those words pumped in and after thinking about it over and over I was fixed that I want to be an RJ.

I like being quiet and alone. I enjoy home alone moments a lot and I have this habit of talking to myself. (Everyone does the talking part but I believe I do too much of it). When it comes to food, curd and buttermilk is a strict no for me. I just do not like that. I am a Kannadiga who can speak manageable Tamil, good amount of Malayalam and Konkani (my Mother Tongue).
You have struggled a lot – I think it took you 3 or 4 years and 10 or 11 auditions before you finally made it. Could you tell us the story of your struggle in brief?
It all started on 24 Dec 2007 when I auditioned for a Radio Station where the RJ told me “Tumse Nahin Hoga”. I did ask the reason and walked out after knowing that my Kannada pronunciations are at fault. I worked on them and got back, and again got rejected at another radio station and this kept happening. Unlike many others, I never got disappointed but kept learning from my mistakes which were the reason for my failures and then Radio Mirchi happened. As
