MUMBAI: After four long years of association with Red FM, the curtains were drawn as RJ Mantra quit the organisation last week
The well known jock joined the Red FM family in 2006 and since then touched the popularity charts. 14 August was his last day at the station. The RJ was hosting evening Drive Time show Mumbai Local on Red FM.
Confirming his exit from the station Mantra said, “Every year we renew our contracts. But this time I decided to take a break for couple of months from the industry.”
“I have been associated with the radio industry for over ten years now. I started my carrer with AIR in Delhi before I shifted to Mumbai and joined Red FM in 2006 I will re-return but that could take some time. As a performer I need to reinvent myself and figure out the next step,” said the RAPA award winner.
He also did not confirm whether he would re-join Red FM post his sabbatical. “I will explore the opportunities when I decide to make a come back.”
The RJ has also anchored several shows on television. He was also a VJ for Channel [V] for a brief period. His last stint on television was an anchor on Star Plus for the dance show ‘Zara Nachke Dikha’. Mantra though refused rumors of him joining the television industry again.
Last year the RJ also dabbled with acting as he was the second lead in the Soha Ali Khan- Emraan Hashmi starrer â€?Tum Mile’, directed by Kunal Deshmukh and received good reviews for his stint. “This year audience will see more of me on the big screen as I have couple of film projects in hand,” revealed Mantra.
