MUMBAI: With her second major stint on television, RJ Malishka is putting on her dancing shoes for Colours’ Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. The theme for the Saturday 19-20 July episode on the dancing show is ‘I Love’, and her theme is ‘I love fairy tales’.
Dressing up like a princess, Malishka will be dancing before one of her favourite people- Madhuri Dixit Nene. Many are star-struck when it comes to the renowned Bollywood actress, and Malishka is no different. Talking about Dixit, she said, “I used to dance to Madhuri Dixit’s songs and now I am dancing in front of her which is a memorable experience. I was called ‘Mohalle Ki Madhuri Dixit’ because I danced to her songs. In the studio, I am called ‘Kursi ki Madhuri Dixit’ because I dance when her songs are played while sitting in my chair.”
Dixit is aware that Malishka is a huge fan of hers. Speaking about the ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’ actresss Malishka said, “The time she came to the studio, when I met her for the first time I was star –struck. After that I have meet her several other times and each time I see her I have danced to her songs for her.”

Talking about the other judges in the show, she said, “I think the judges are very fond of me too as they have meet me before. They are very nice and constructive. It is a different feel altogether.” She is surprised that the judges actually appreciated her. “This week I got some awesome comments from the judges and it is really nice to hear it.” Dixit is joined by Remo D’souza and Karan Johar on the judge’s panel.
Malishka revealed that she practices for six to seven hours every day and is optimistic that her hard-work and her listeners and fans will help her go further in the competition. The RJ often talks about ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ on her morning show on Red FM to give her listeners some exciting news about the show.
The Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa team had first approached her last year to become a contestant on the show as she was already associated with Zee TV’s ‘Connected Hum Tum’, but she could not take it up. “They approached me this year for the wild card entry and I said yes,” added the RJ.
For her fairy tale theme, Malishka will dance to two songs; one is ‘Le le’ and the other is ‘Mein Pareshan’. ‘Le le’ will be her tribute to Salman Khan, who will be on the show as a guest judge. The concept of the act is an adaption from the ‘Princess and the frog story’.
