Reliance opens second iStore outlet in Bangalore

BANGALORE: Reliance Digital’s consumer durables and information technology arm iStore opened its second store in Bangalore on Saturday.

Lead guitarist Ehsaan Noorani of the â€?Shankar Ehsaan Loy’ trio formally threw open the store which had had a soft launch a fortnight ago. This is the sixth iStore in the country, with one store each already operational in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Ludhiana, besides the two outlets in Bangalore. The company plans to open another outlet in the NCR region, as also open digital stores at Kolkata, Chennai and major metros in the country.

Reliance Digital CEO Ajay Baijal has plans to open 50 to 60 iStores over the next two to three years in India.

Reliance Digital also announced its new initiative â€?Amplify your music’ – a series of Mac workshops. Through â€?Amplify Your Music’ Reliance Digital plans to provide a platform for audiences to interact with renowned musicians, the first of which was conducted by Ehsaan on Saturday at the new iStore in Bangalore.

According to Baijal, each iStore attracts about 150 to 200 footfalls per day, while each large format digital store attracts about 2000 to 4000 footfalls daily, with a higher number of visitors during weekends. The conversion rates of footfalls into sales are around 10-15 per cent at the iStores, which sometimes go up to 30 per cent on some days, claims the company.
