MUMBAI: In its zest to increase listenership, Red FM has engaged listeners in yet another social initiative. The station is now set to honour the unsung heroes of our society and celebrate the spirit of humanity with ‘Bade Dilwale Awards’. The initiative, will be carried for five weeks across its 19 Hindi Speaking Markets (HSM).
The awards are instituted to recognize individuals who have worked selflessly for the welfare of the under-privileged and helped in empowering them. The station, with the help of a research agency, will nominate three people in areas including literature, music, sports, education, science & research, business, environment, agriculture and social work.
Winner in each category will be selected on the basis of the agency’s analysis and the views of the jury. However, the final winner will be ultimately determined on the basis of listeners’ votes, as per an official company statement.

The station boasts of getting a humungous amount of response on the initiative with a lot of stories. At the end of the campaign, a felicitation ceremony will be held in each of the cities, to felicitate all the heroes with a lifetime achievement award.
Red FM senior VP programming and projects Nisha Narayanan said, “Bade Dilwale is an initiative to honour the real heroes of every city/state. Their efforts, achievements and sacrifices are greater than any awards, but it is our way of thanking them and appreciating their work. By recognizing these unsung heroes, we salute them as well as aim at inspiring all our listeners.”
