MUMBAI: Actors singing in Bollywood films isn’t a new trend, and following on the footsteps of Priyanka Chopra, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar amongst others is Anil Kapoor and John Abraham who are all set to launch the music of their upcoming film ‘Shootout At Wadala’ on 19 March in Mumbai.
Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Harmeet from Meet Brothers said, “We (Meet brothers) were sitting with director Sanjay Gupta discussing which celebrity can we get on board to rap for ‘Goli’. So he was the one who suggested us to rope in Anil Kapoor and John Abraham.”
The multi-composer film has two tracks ‘Aye Yaaro’ and theme song of the film ‘Goli’ composed by Meet Brothers.
Manmeet said, “Recording with Anil Kapoor and John Abraham was fun and amazing. They seemed quite comfortable rendering.”
“Unlike Anil (Kapoor), who was passionate and took several takes to deliver the best; John (Abraham) was very cool about the whole thing in spite the fact that he has not sung before,” said Harmeet. Meet brothers have also rendered for the track.
He further added the track is based on the theme of the film and is synonym to ‘Goli’ that means ‘Shootout’. The track speaks about the film based on shootout and encounter. Kumar has penned the lyrics.
‘Aye Yaaro’ is the other melodious track composed by Meet Brothers. The video of the track depicts the friendship of Tusshar Kapoor and John Abraham. “I am hopeful that the song will be used for promotional purpose as a video has already been shot.” Adnan Sami and Shaan have rendered for the track. “This track needed two soft voices and at the same time wanted a voice which represented some pop style music- Adnan adds that flavour and Shaan gives the needed playback singer voice,” said Harmeet.
The album comprising of distinct sounds also has music by Anu Malik who has composed three tracks ‘Ala re Ala’, ‘Babli Badmaash’ and ‘Puche Mere Naina’ with the background music, while other composers include Anand Raj Anand and Mustafa Zahid.
Moreover, Meet Brothers are planning to work on a single and their film line-up this year includes Suneel Darshan’s Karle Pyaar Karle, Anubhav Sinha’s Warning and Apoorva Lakhia’s Zanjeer.
Written and directed by Sanjay Gupta, the film is a prequel to 2007 film Shootout at Lokhandwala, and is based on the book Dongri to Dubai written by Hussain Zaidi. The film featuring John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut, Tusshar Kapoor and Sonu Sood in lead roles is slated to release in May.
