MUMBAI: A new buzz of a Kinks re-union has surfaced and is making the rounds in the music industry. After almost two decades of corresponding only via e-mails, the Davies brothers finally met in person sometime last week, kick-starting rumours that they could be reuniting.
Reports say that the meeting could possibly be regarding a re-union of the English rock band. The band had last played together in 1996, after which they disbanded due to the brothers’ constant rows. Their tumultuous relationship forced the band to split up, but have now realised that the music they once created together was ingenious.
In an interview a few years ago, Ray Davies had said, “When we were together, it was aggressive, violent, powerful, but we triggered off each other. We don’t see each other much, but this morning I found two songs we recorded together at my house on my computer. It’s unforgettable, his sound.”

The lead singer and song-writer of the band, told the Sunday Times recently that neither of them want to ‘do the old stuff’ but that he “would really like to write with his brother (Dave) again.” However, he added that it would have to be something new.
For years, the members have been dismissing tales of them getting back together. This time Dave Davies came around and acknowledged the meeting between the two brothers.
Former drummer of the band, Mick Avory, also seemed positive about a possible reunion and stated that it would be nice to get together again.
The Kinks were one of the biggest English rock bands of the 1960s and had several hits like ‘You really got me’, ‘All day and all of the night’ and ‘Waterloo Sunset’. The band’s original four members were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
