MUMBAI: After grabbing three awards at the 2016 Radio City Freedom Awards (as the Best Rap/ Hip Hop Artist), and ‘Best single’ at the 5th Artist Aloud Music Awards, local favourites ‘Mumbai’s Finest’ now continue their journey to fame beyond the ‘City of Dreams’.
The lead – Emcee Ninja Aka Mc Shinobi – joined the core team during 2010, and the rappers’ focus to step forward in the game grows with the much-needed critical and commercial success. The rapper has begun with the recording for his debut album, and hopes to conclude the production responsibilities at the earliest. “I am currently working on the seventh track,” replied Emcee Ninja, when asked about the progress of the album.
Initially formed by Amey Patkar (AP) and Abhishek Dhusia (Ace) over a decade ago, the crew’s inception was a result of the duo’s undying passion towards hip hop and rap culture.
Ever since the inception, Mumbai’s Finest has developed into a winning brand. The charisma and the quality, not only helped them connect to the fans (of the genre) in Mumbai, but its rap and lyrical depth carries them beyond any specific linguistic barriers.

“I never planned to be a rapper or hip-hop artist, though I was a B-boy in 2005, and used to always love the hip-hop culture. I used to rap in Hindi and used to make music for my local people. I couldn’t speak English properly in that period and I have learned the accent over the time. Somehow music gets on me without much effort,” says Ninja Aka Mc Shinobi.
While talking about his musical journey and future projects, Ninja – self-proclaimed fan of Chris Brown – stated, “I am working on my first album and there will be one commercial track, completely for its significance. I might work with Universal Music India to record this album. It has been seven years since I took rapping seriously, and I want to stand out as a Hiphop artist who is into beatboxing, graffiti and freestyle dancing as well. I want to see my potential as an independent artist. I love making music and I love appreciation.”
