MUMBAI: Ram Gopal Varma popularly known as RGV is back in action. The director, who had denied plans of making a movie on the heart-rending tragedy of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks released the music of the film ‘The attacks of 26/11’ on 11 February at Leopold Cafe, one of the first locations terrorists attacked on 26 Nov 2008 in Mumbai.
RGV had visited the Taj Mahal hotel with the then chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and actor-son Ritesh soon after the 26/11 terror attacks, and denied speculations that he would make a movie on the tragedy amid huge public and media outcry.
Around 250 students from various colleges had organized a candle march from Churchgate to the cafe. Unlike other musical events, this one was replete with stories by survivors of the tragedy Reuters journalist Sourav Mishra and filmmaker Kate Chailate, recoiled the painful incident as they poured their hearts out. Sukhwinder, Rooshin Dalal and Suraj Jagan performed live while RGV and Nana Patekar relived the moments.

Varma said, “The music was done to understand and feel the movie. The whole element of the music album is to set off the violence in the movie. The idea to hold it at Leopold was because the place is of prime importance to the film and I could think of no better location than this to bring out the significance.”
Patekar the lead of the movie said, “When I was told there is a music launch of the movie, I said it’s not a movie but a reality; so for me to be present at the event was like disheartening but Ramu encouraged me by saying that it’s my time to speak my thoughts out about the tragedy.”
The five-track based music album is under Eros music and is composed by six different composers namely Rooshin Dalal, Kaizad Gherda, Amar Mohite, Vishal R Khosla, Sushil R Khosla and Sukhwinder Singh.
Suraj Jagan said, “This movie is in a way to remind people not to forget the tragedy as yet another event.” Jagan has sung an emotional track titled ‘Khoon Kharaba Tabaahi’. He added, “This song is the representation of bone chilling event that happened in Mumbai. I am hoping that it will tell people not to forget about the tragedy.”
Produced by Parag Sanghavi of Alumbra Entertainment and Eros International, the film also stars Sanjeev Jaiswal as Ajmal Kasab and Atul Kulkarni. The owner of Leopold Café Farzad Jehani plays himself in the movie. The movie is slated to release on 1 March.
