MUMBAI: Latha, the wife of Superstar Rajinikanth has lent her voice for a song in his upcoming film ‘Kockadaiiyaan’. The Thalaiva’s missus will be sharing some limelight with her man, who has also rendered his vocals for the film.
Titled ‘Manappenin Sathiyam’, the song is about a woman describing her relationship with her husband and the meaning of companionship to her. It is a melodious addition to the film’s soundtrack, which has been composed by AR Rahman.
A lesser known fact about Latha is she has worked as a playback singer in the ’80s, and sources close to the family say that Rajinikanth loved the song sung by his wife. Director Soundarya Rajinikanth Ashwin said, “My mother is a very talented singer, and this song has come out great. Without any practice, she’s done an amazing job. Singing is her passion and I hope she does it more often. The lyrics are very emotional and I cannot wait for people to hear it. It was a challenge for her, for sure, as she has sung this song in Telugu too.”
The soundtrack has 9 songs and features a variety of singers including, SP Balasubrahmanyam, Sadhna Sargam, Chinmayi Sripada, Srinivas and AR Rahman himself. The orchestral track ‘Rana’s Dream’ features the London Sessions Orchestra.
Hailed as India’s answer to James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’, ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ is the first Indian film to use full performance capture in its production process, a workflow that was pioneered and optimised on James Cameron’s Avatar.
