MUMBAI: Rain Raga, monsoon musical concert depicting genres like thumri, sufi, folk and regional music will be held on 2 September in Mumbai.
Artistes performing at the event are ace percussionist Taufiq Qureshi, sitar virtuso Purbayan Chatterjee , sufi-singer Indira Naik and popular vocalist Jayateerth Mevundi, talented tabla player Satyajeet Talwalkar, well known pianist Vishal Dhumal, south Indian percussionist Giridhar Udupa and Prodigal flautist S Akash. The two hour non-stop concert will feature around eight- nine compositions performed by ace artistes on sitar, tabla, flute, keyboard and percussion.
Elaborating on the concept Pancham Nishad director Shashi Vyas said, “In Indian Music there is an uncanny relationship between time, nature and music and hence the concept of seasonal melodies. Raag Malhar and its variants known as melodies of Monsoon (Varsha Ritu) are the most popular seasonal melodies. Music lovers look forward to listening to them during the monsoons. The moods of monsoon encompass almost all ‘Navrasas’ that signifies the emotional state of mind of every living being.”
Organizer Pancham Nishad Creatives known for its thematically events, has been organizing events like Dhawal Nisha, Heartbeats, Spiritual Morning, Aarohi, Bolava Vitthal, Remember Shakti, Pratahswar and Ghalib se Gulzar.
