MUMBAI: Rahul Pandey, who sang ‘Haseena Tu Kameena’ from the film ‘Happy Ending’ has now rendered his vocals for a Telugu song, ‘Hey Akhil’ for the film ‘Akhil – The Power Of Jua’. Music for the film has been composed by Anup Rubens, and lyrics have been penned by Krishna Chaitanya.
“A friend of mine told me that Anup Rubens was looking for fresh voices, and I thought I should give it a shot. I went to the recording studio after getting a slot and we recorded for a while, and they liked my voice. Then Anup suggested that we record the final version of the song the next morning,” said Pandey.
The following day, within two to three hours, the team managed to record the song. “Most of the time was consumed by getting the dialect and pronunciations correct for the track,” he explained.

The music launch of the film happened in a Hyderabad stadium, in the presence of actors, including Nagarjuna, whose youngest son is all set to make his Bollywood acting debut with the film. “There were 20,000-25,000 people present at the launch, and it was overwhelming to perform for so many people and the actors,” he said adding that his voice and the track was appreciated by those present at the event.
Pandey revealed that there is quite a difference between the South Indian music industry and the Bollywood music industry. He explained that composers from the South have a perfect pattern and guidelines that a singer needs to follow, while in Bollywood, composers are always experimenting with music.
Apart from his Bollywood projects, Pandey is also working on a single, which he initially planned to release in September. “I did not have enough time as a few projects and my live shows kept me busy,” he added.
