MUMBAI: AR Rahman has reigned and emerged as an undisputed king of music yet another time, bagging maximum nominations and awards for Rockstar this year. At the seventh Apsara Awards Rockstar is leading the popular music category with five nominations followed by Bodyguard with four nods.
Mohit Chauhan has bagged two nominations for Best Playback Singer Male (Naadaan Parindey and Sadda Haq), while Harshdeep Kaur for Best Playback Singer Female (Katiya Karun). AR Rahman is nominated for Best Music and Irshad Kamil for Best Lyrics (Naadaan Parindey).
Apsara Awards nominations have been shortlisted by the members of Film & Television Producers Guild of India.
Film & Television Producers Guild of India president Ramesh Sippy said, There are so many films in contention for the awards this year and it is fascinating in terms of the diverse kind of movies that were made. The growth has been remarkable. We have witnessed some awe inspiring work; the jury is surely going to have a tough time….
This year the ceremony will also witness the â€?100 years of Indian Cinema’ celebrations showcasing a special tribute dedicated to the legends of Indian cinema and their glorious years in Bollywood.
The 7th Chevrolet Apsara Awards 2012 will take place on 25 January at the Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai.
