Rahman’s Rockstar bags six music nominations at 57th Filmfare Awards

MUMBAI: As the Indian film industry enters its 100th year, Filmfare is all set to give away its 2500th award. The Filmfare awards announced their nominations in the popular category. In the music category AR Rahman’s Rockstar has gained six nominations following closely with RaOne bagging four nominations.

Rockstar leads the nominations in the music category with a total of six nominations -AR Rahman (Best Music Director), Irshad Kamil with two nominations for Best Lyricist (Naadan Parindey and Sadda Haq), Mohit Chauhan as Best Playback Singer Male (Jo Bhi Mein and Sadda Haq) and Harshdeep Kaur as Best Playback Singer Female for Katiya Karu.

Flowing closely on their heels is the Shah Rukh Khan film RaOne with four nominations –Vishal-Shekhar as Best Music Director, Vishal Dadlani and Niranjan Iyer as Best Lyricist for Chammak Challo. International singer Akon too finds a mention here as he is nominated with Vishal Dadlani for Best Playback Singer Male for Chammak Challo along with Shafqat Amanat Ali who is nominated for Dildaara.

With this being a special year for Filmfare its going to be a tough fight as around 114 films will be vying for top honours. World Wide Media CEO Tarun Rai said, The Filmfare Awards 2011 will be very special for us as we will be giving out the 2500th Black Lady at the award show on January 29. The 2500th Black Lady is testament of Filmfare’s long association with the Indian Cinema and its commitment to recognize and celebrate the immense talent of our film industry over the last 57 years….

57th Idea Filmfare Awards 2011 is scheduled to be held on 29 January 2012 at the Reliance MediaWorks Studios in Film City, Goregoan.
