Rahman’s ‘If I Rise’ nominated for World Soundtrack Awards

MUMBAI: Music virtuoso AR Rahman’s composition â€?If I Rise’ from the film â€?127 Hours’ has been nominated for the World Soundtrack Awards (WSA).

“If I Rise is nominated for the category – ‘Best original song written directly for a film’. The event will be held on 22 October at Ghent, Belguim,” Rahman posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Performed by singer Dido and Rahman, If I Rise is a part of Boyle’s 2010 movie 127 Hours, which stars James Franco, Amber Tamblyn and Kate Mara.

Rahman rose in the international arena after winning double Oscars for his compositions in Danny Boyle’s internationally acclaimed film Slumdog Millionaire.

The 45-year-old is surprised after being termed as ‘Tomorrow’s World Music Icons’ by one of the international music magazine.

“It’s a great honour for me to be selected as one of ‘Tomorrow’s World Music Icons’ in the current issue of Songlines,” he further tweeted.
