MUMBAI: Even as the countdown to the Golden Globe awards begins, India’s claim to global music fame, A R Rahman, has walked away with the Best Music Composer award for Danny Boyle’s â€?Slumdog Millionaire’ at the 14th annual Critics” Choice awards in America.
The movie, which follows the story of the young boy from rags to riches, has walked away with five gongs at the award ceremony, reports ‘Variety’.
Director Danny Boyle won Best Director award. Writer Simon Beaufoy, also won an award for the film.
In December, Rahman added a Satellite Award to his roster of honours, close on the heels of his Golden Globe nomination.
Slumdog Millionaire also won four EDA (Excellent Dynamic Activism) Awards from the Alliance of Women Film Journalists (AWFJ), including Best Film and Best Direction. EDA Awards are named in honour of AWFJ founder Jennifer Merin’s mother, Eda Reiss Merin, a stage, film and television actress.
