MUMBAI: A R Rahman continues to win accolades internationally as he bags two Grammy nominations for his track Jai Ho from the multi award winner film Slumdog Millionaire.
The track Jai Ho which got Rahman two Academy awards and a Golden Globe, has been nominated in the category of Best Song written for Motion Picture, Television or Other visual media. Rahman has also been nominated in the category of Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television or Other visual Media for Slumdog Millionaire.
Its other competitors include the sound track from the much hyped flick ‘Twilight’ which has earned its second nomination in the similar two categories. “The Climb” from Hannah Montana, “Once in a Lifetime” from Cadillac Records and “The Wrestler” from The Wrestler are the other nominations in the “Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television, or other Visual Media”

Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan too has been nominated for a Grammy award in the best traditional world music album category.
Khan has been nominated for the album â€?Ancient Sounds’, a joint-venture with Iraqi oud soloist Rahim Alhaj.
Other albums in the category include â€?Double Play’, â€?Douga Mansa’, â€?La Guerra No’ and â€?Drum Music Land’.
In the “Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television or other Visual Media” the nominations are

Country singer Taylor Swift has grabbed eight nominations for the forthcoming Grammy Awards while Beyonce leads the brigade with 10 nominations as the Recording Academy announced the nominees with a live, music-filled special for the second year in a row.

Black Eyed Peas. King of Leon also earned two nominations for the Song of the Year and Record of the Year categories
Dave Matthews Band has been nominated for Album of the Year and Best Rock Album award. Eric Clapton and singer-songwriter
Steve Winwood were nominated in the Best Rock Album category for their live set at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
They will battle it out with, amongst others, Irish rockers U2 who were nominated for the studio recording No Line on the
Horizon.
Beyonce’s nominations included album of the year for “I Am…Sasha Fierce,” song of the year for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring
On It)” and record of the year for “Halo.”
After her eight nominations Taylor Swift said, “To be recognised by the Grammys is the ultimate honor. The last couple of
months has been a nonstop dream come true.”
Winners in all categories of the 52nd annual event will be announced at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Jan 31.
