MUMBAI: After performing for the Queen of England and the Duke of Edinburgh, renowned indie-folk artiste Raghu Dixit has collaborated with Grammy award-winning group Basement Jaxx.
Dixit has recorded two songs with the group, one of which will be used in an upcoming British-Indian film composed by them. Basement Jaxx are a British electronic dance music band comprising of Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe .
Speaking about the collaboration Dixit said, “Even before I could say a proper hello, Felix shoved a coffee mug into my hand and started a loop of very happy Brazilian-sounding track. I got into the vocal booth and before I realized it, I had sung about 50 different takes of whatever my mind could think of. Within minutes, Felix had already finished chopping and editing my vocal samples, while Simon was layering more heavy sounding tribal drums. It was a mad, funny, ridiculous evening and in many ways a strong education.”
