MUMBAI: After the success of ‘One Bengaluru One Music’ on-air, Radio One has announced the popular initiative on-ground in Bangalore.
The musical platform in association with Turquoise, aims to bring over 500 bands across 50 genres of music including classical, folk, carnatic, rock, beat boxing, blues, jazz and R&B under one roof.
The initiative kicked-off with a performance by upcoming band ‘Live Banned’ last week. The band’s lead singer Amrit Rao said, “There are very few opportunities available for independent music/musicians to showcase their talent. Radio One’s ‘One Bengaluru One Music’ has been a fantastic platform for independent band like ours. Hats off to Radio One for promoting new talent and giving us a platform to perform.”

Radio One national marketing head and station head Shyju Varkey said, “A music promoter can be hugely influential to a musician’s career and I am very proud to say that Radio One has given over 350 bands an on-air platform for the past 104 weeks. We are now giving them an on-ground platform as well. We believe in surprising our listeners with fresh and entertaining music, which is one of the reasons we started this initiative of ‘One Bangalore One Music’. This will also help us further establish a strong connect with our listeners and strengthen our presence as a radio station.”
Reviving the music scene in the city, the platform will witness performances by bands like Moonarra, Sulk Station, Blues Before Sunrise, Karma and Kryptos amongst others. The six-month long initiative will take place on every Thursday in the city.
