MUMBAI: Radio One has recently roped in Raj Gopal Iyer as its new station head-west. His last stint was with Big FM where he was heading their NTR business nationally.
Talking about the new opportunity Iyer says, “Radio One has some serious plans for the metro. I would be heading the stations in West which includes Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Pune, which is supposed to start soon.”
Radio One CEO Vineet Singh Hukmani confirms, “This dual strategy has not only helped Radio One grow, but also attract new talent in all the cities.” “Mumbai is a very important market for Radio One, especially since it is our flagship one. We are delighted to have Raj onboard, because he really understands the business and programming aspects well. We are looking forward to making the station even more exciting with him in the lead”, adds Hukmani.
His earlier profile includes working with Sony Entertainment Television, Start TV, Jadoo Works, Times OOH Media and Percept Picture Company. Iyer has also been an RJ in AIR few years ago.
Radio One has five stations operating in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad. It plans to launch its operations in Pune and Kolkata. “The Pune station will start its operations in a couple of weeks where as Kolkata will take a little longer,” informs Iyer.
The station has also recently appointed Vehrnon Ibrahim as its national programming head.
