MUMBAI: After launching ‘One Mumbai, One Music’, Radio One has extended its property in Delhi by announcing the launch of its landmark offering, ‘One Delhi, One Music’ aimed at providing listeners the chance to experience music across all genres.
The event was graced by Grammy award winner Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and Padma Bhushan awardee Pandit Debu Chaudhur. The other artistes present on the occasion were renowned sufi singer Aslam Sabri, violinist Anupriya, gazal singer Zulfi Khan, Jasbir Jassi, Shankar Sawhney, bhangra musician Ashok Masti, Parikrama band, rock band Bandish, Raghav Sachar and singer Shibani Kashyap.
As Delhi has been at the forefront of being a â€?Multi Genre Music City’, Radio One offers an interactive platform for music artistes, both established and new. This initiative will go beyond Bollywood music and will build momentum for music/artists in the genres of classical, ghazal, sufi, punjabi, folk, english and indie rock, fusion, indipop, dance n funk.
Talking about the initiative, Radio One MD Vineet Singh Hukmani said, We want to be a natural catalyst, bridge and a friend between the musician/artist and the listener and ensure the multi genre music revolution sweeping this country and Delhi is given its due respect. We are proud to be a part of this era and are therefore driving our vision of being India’s only music station in a multi-genre space.”
â€?One Delhi One Music’ will be a special weekend show for the artist/band to perform live and unplugged and be able to tell their fans about their upcoming live shows. The show will consist of artist/bands talking about their history and future plans which will help them connect emotionally to listeners who are looking beyond bollywood.
New artists will get a chance to interact with established musicians of their genre which will help their growth and the overall cause of music.
The host of the show is Music Jock Sumit who is known as a passionate music lover himself
