MUMBAI: Radio One has launched its sixth radio station in the country, in Pune on 12 May.
The station has positioned itself with the tagline ‘kuch naya sunno yaar’. RJ Sangram would be hosting the breakfast show for the city.Radio One plans to stand out from the existing stations in the city by playing only Bollywood songs. The core audience of the station is in the age group of 20-30 years, in a city known increasingly for its BPO and IT culture.
Radio One station head west Raj Gopal Iyer says, “We will add a local flavour by letting local RJs on air. The RJ would be well versed with the local lingo and the local scenario, which would let our audience connect well with the station.”
Programming will be similar to Radio One stations in Mumbai and Ahmedabad, say station officials. Radio One is scheduled to launch in Kolkata in a year.
