Radio Mantra back with RJ hunt in Jalandhar

MUMBAI: Trying to reach out to the masses and get in a new pool of talent, major radio stations across the country have set out on a hunt to bring in the best radio jockeys. Following a similar route, Radio Mantra has kicked off the second edition of its RJ hunt in Jalandhar.

The radio reality show ‘RJ Giri’ will provide a platform to budding RJs in the city. Entries for the show will commence from 22 September and the weeklong audition will culminate on 29 September. Participants above the age of 20 can register at the venue and they will be judged on their spontaneity, clarity, sense of humour, overall personality and the local connect to make it to the top ten.

The hunt will be spread over various elimination stages and involve multiple on-ground tasks. The final four will be allotted an hour’s slot on-air for a week where listeners can tune in and vote for their favourite contestants. The grand finale will be held on 13 October where one lucky winner will be chosen on the basis of voting and the scores given by Mantra’s jury members. The winner will get a chance to be trained and mentored by the station and will also win a TVS Twister.

Radio Mantra national programming head Kanwar Sameer said, “With the second edition of ‘RJ Giri’, we look forward to create some great engaging content and give youngsters a platform to showcase their talent. I’m sure the response is going to be phenomenal, same as the first edition. Activities like ‘RJ Giri’ happen once in a while which gives the audience a chance to know and feel you better. There’s a lot of talent out there, people are really passionate about the medium and the competition is going to be tough as ever.”

To ensure maximum participation from the city, various channels like phone, text, post and mobile studio, are being used to invite entries and participants can also send in their entries through SMS or call and record their audio clip on the ‘Radio Mantra Mobile Studio’.
