MUMBAI: A commercial-free music channel dedicated solely to the renowned english rock band ‘The Pink Floyd’ will be launched by Sirius XM Radio on Friday 25 May at 12 pm ET.
‘Channel 27’ of the radio will broadcast music, interviews and historic concert from the bands archives till Monday 28 May. It will also feature Floyd’s classic albums which was recently remastered and released as part of the ‘Why Pink Floyd?’ campaign.
The channel will also feature solo albums by Floyd members including Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright, Nick Mason and Syd Barrett, live concerts, rarities, demo versions of classic songs and studio outtakes.
“The Pink Floyd Channel’ will be curated by radio station’s Jim Ladd who hosts the weekday free-form rock show ‘Jim Ladd Show’ featuring musically-themed sets and interviews. The channel will be available from 29 June – 9 July on Sirius channel 142 and XM channel 43 and will air online on channel 802 through the SiriusXM internet radio app for smartphones and mobile devices.
Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters said, “I can’t think of a better home for the Pink Floyd catalogue, and all the solo stuff, than SiriusXM. How cool for all our fans and what a great way to introduce the work to new generations of listeners.”
