MUMBAI: Taking music to a new level altogether, Radio City is back with the fifth edition of its popular on-air music property ‘Musical-E-Azam’. The fest will commence on 28 January and will be aired live across its 20 stations.
This year, the theme of the festival revolves around ‘double dhamaal’, which will witness two renowned singers gracing each episode on the morning show of the respective stations everyday and rendering their popular tracks to listeners. Besides enjoying the unplugged songs by the artists, listeners can also call in to request special songs.
In the major metro market of Mumbai, a renowned duet of singers will be featured on the morning show ‘Kasa Kai Mumbai’ with RJ Salil and RJ Archana. Some of the names include Salim–Sulaiman, KK-Udit Narayan, Sajid-Wajid, Roop Kumar Rathod-Sunidhi Chauhan, Adnan Sami and more.
Radio City national programming head Kartik Kalla said, “Musical-e-Azam is one of our tent-pole properties and highlights our expertise on music. The property catches our listeners pulse owing to its sheer grandeur, immense entertainment, great music and candid chat with stalwarts from music industry. It is undoubtedly the biggest musical festival on-air. Each of these singers brings a distinct hue that completes the canvass of Musical-e-Azam.”
The fest will be broadcast across stations including Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Baroda, Surat, Pune, Nagpur, Maharashtra, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore and Visakhapatnam.
The property is known as ‘Musical Durbar’ in the south markets, and its Bangalore station will feature a list of people like ‘Filmfare’ winner Nandita, LN Shastry, MD Pallavi amongst other renowned singers. On the other hand, the network’s Hyderabad station will rope in Telugu singers like Sunil Kashyap of ‘Dil Kabaddi’ fame, Hema Chandra, Kausalya and more, while Chennai will witness Aalap Raju, Shwetha Mohan and Suchith Sureshan on ‘Musical Durbar’.
