MUMBAI: The year-long wait concerning the update on the biggest beach music festival – VH1 Supersonic – finally comes to an end. Live Viacom18, the parent company for VH1 Supersonic, announced that the festival will be moved to the youth capital – Pune. That, however, effectively means that the Candolim beach would not be the home to one of the biggest electronic music festivals of the country.
Considered as the Oxford of the East for its almost omnipresent educational universities and the youth, Pune acts an ideal replacement in terms of expected turnout and accessibility. The multicultural and cosmopolitan environment of the city facilitates understanding and appreciation of other cultures. The city also boasts of a rich infrastructure that supports commute from metros across India, thereby making travel convenient for outstation attendees.
Laxmi Lawns, that hosted Bacardi NH7 Weekender all these years, would host its first dance music festival. The festival is scheduled to take place on February 10, 11 and 12. Vh1 Supersonic has earlier hosted Vh1 Supersonic Arcades in Pune, with headliners by Above & Beyond, Dash Berlin and Pretty Lights, to name a few, and has consistently received an overwhelming response.
