MUMBAI: Singer-composer Priyani Vani Panditt is making bluzz globally with Raageet—a unique musical initiative that harmonizes tradition with innovation. More than just a concert series, Raageet is a platform that reimagines Indian classical music for modern ears, marrying the intricacies of ragas with the emotional resonance of Hindi film melodies.
Born in the small town of Jobat in Madhya Pradesh, Priyani’s musical journey began early. Under the guidance of her father, Shri Lavesh Vani, she started her classical training at the age of eight. Her academic rigor matched her artistic passion—she earned both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Indian Music from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), Indore.
Her education continued under the mentorship of several renowned figures in the Indian music landscape, including Smt. Bharti Soni, Shri Purbayan Chatterjee, Shri Gautam Mukherjee, Smt. Suvarna Wad, and Ustad Murtaza Khan Sahab. While she doesn’t adhere strictly to one gharana, her vocal style reflects a blend of discipline, creativity, and adaptability—hallmarks of a versatile artist.

With Raageet, Priyani has created a format that appeals to both connoisseurs and casual listeners. “I wanted to create something that speaks to both the trained ear and the casual listener,” she says. “Raageet is my tribute to the timeless soul of Indian music, in all its forms.”

Priyani is also an experienced educator. She has been a vocal coach and music teacher for seven years, running the Raageet Music Academy, which currently trains students from across the globe in Indian music through online sessions.
Her voice is no stranger to Bollywood either. As a playback singer, she has contributed to several mainstream film tracks including Ha Har Ghadi (Thank You), Dil Ye Bekarar (Players), Good Night (Ferrari Ki Sawaari), Punjabi Munde (Ghudchadi), and Like a Phoenix (Hindi Vindi). Her independent releases—such as Maahiya, Ab Tak Na Maine, Mohan Bin Radha, and Papa Tum Meri—showcase her ability to transcend genres while retaining emotional authenticity.
Her contributions have been recognized on both national and international stages. A recipient of the Government of India’s scholarship in Indian Classical Music, Priyani has performed at cultural festivals including Mandi Mahotsav and Bhauramdev Mahotsav in Chhattisgarh, as well as international events like SAARC Sammelan, Bihar Diwas, and the Asian Cultural Festival. Her music has also found a strong following in the United States, with notable performances for the Bengali and Gujarati communities in New York and New Jersey.
