MUMBAI: Funk and R&B musician, Prince, has officially announced that he will be releasing two brand new studio albums titled, ‘Art Official Age’ and ‘Plectrumelectrum’. The two albums will be released through Warner Bros. Records and will be out on 30 September this year in the US. While the former will be his 33rd studio album, the latter is an album by his new band- 3RDEYEGIRL.
Prince’s new solo album will see him unite with his original label home- Warner Bros. Records, after a split that has lasted 18 years. The partnership was announced in April this year after the singer/songwriter dropped a surprise release ‘The Breakdown’. With re-signing for the label, Prince has obtained rights to the master recordings of some of his 80s albums, which include ‘Purple Rain’, ‘Dirty Mind’, ‘Sign ‘O’ the Times’ and ‘1999’.
‘Art Official Age’, a 13-track album will have Prince’s classic sound of R&B, soul and funk, but with a contemporary edge. The album has been composed, arranged, produced and performed by the Grammy winning singer and Joshua Welton.

‘Plectrumelectrum’ by his band- 3RDEYEGIRL is a 12-track, live recorded album. It features a number of funk-rock tracks that he performed during his ‘Hit & Run’ tours in the UK, earlier this year. The band consists of Hannah Ford Welton (drums), Ida Nielsen (Bass), Donna Grantis (guitar) and the iconic musician himself.
Both albums will be sold separately and will be available for pre-order on the ‘Art Official Age’ store website and through digital retailers.
