MUMBAI: Trying to improve the quality of its broadcasters, the government is now in the process of recruiting people for various posts in Doordarshan and All India Radio. After inviting applications for technical posts, Prasar Bharati has now announced to fill 1166 vacancies of programme executives and transmission executives in all Indian languages.
A total of 360 vacancies have been announced for the post of programme executive in various languages. Out of them, 25 posts are for Hindustani Music, 10 for Karnatic Music and 20 for Light and Folk Music.
On the other hand, a total of 806 posts have been made available for the post of Transmission Executive. The highest number of vacancies is in Maharashtra with 80 posts across various languages like Konkani, Marathi, Hindi, English, Sindhi, Kannada and Gujarati. It is followed by Uttar Pradesh with 72 posts in Hindi, and 60 posts in Madhya Pradesh.
Meanwhile, eight programme executives and 13 transmission executive posts in Konkani language will be filled for Goa.
Recruitment for these posts will be done through a written examination to be held on 2 June. The staff selection commission has already advertised the combined recruitment examination for filling the posts. Candidates can apply for the same only through online applications. The last date for submission of applications is 19 April.
Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Government of India will make recruitment to these posts on behalf of the Prasar Bharati under special dispensation given by the Government. The total number of vacancies may vary at the discretion of Prasar Bharati. A panel for appointment against the said vacancies shall be prepared. The candidates included in the panel will be given appointment against the vacancies in phases extending over a period of two to three years.
The states included under the North Zone are Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Union Territory of Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand. The East Zone comprises of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal; while the North East Zone has the states Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya and Sikkim.
In the West Zone are the states Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Union Territories of Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. The South Zone includes Andhra Pradesh, Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Karnataka, Union Territory of Lakshadweep, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Union Territory of Puducherry.
