MUMBAI: Twin sisters and singers Prakriti Kakar and Sukriti Kakar are overwhelmed by the response received by their latest second single, Maafiyan.
Exclaiming about the same, the sisters said, “We are so overwhelmed with the response Maafiyan has received because when compared to Bollywood songs, independent numbers take time. All this time, our work for Bollywood songs was appreciated, but after Maafiyan, there are so many people, who have messaged us and told us, how they felt about the song. We want to just keep going up.”
“Since currently, it is an era of non-film music, it is very tricky to put out a song, which is a completely original and very big process to be able to that. We live in a time where there is a lot of Bollywood music that also includes recreations. Therefore to release an independent original is very nerve-wracking, Sukriti and Prakriti further added.

Speaking about the concept, the twin singing divas further added, “It’s a team concept. We had some creative people working with us. It is our first video directed by Adil Sheikh, who is a fabulous director and has also directed hit songs like Dilbar remake. The video idea is actually his life and it was his idea to make the video a look happy when the song is so sad and the contrast worked.”
Further speaking, the Sudhar Jaa singers said, “It’s just 2019, when we started making independent songs and releasing them. Also, Maafiyan is only our second single in three months, while Sudhar Jaa was first. We have a long way to go and it is a completely new journey for us. Hopefully, we will be releasing many more singles this year.”
Lastly, Prakriti and Sukriti spoke about their upcoming projects, “We are working on a lot of singles, creating content, but we don’t know exactly when we will be releasing them. We will be taking a lot of creative calls when it comes to the videos also and the zone, we want to zero down. By September or August, our next song might be out!”
The duo will be seen soon on the RED FM’s new property for independent artists, RED Indies and also graced its launch.
