MUMBAI: Producer and multi-instrumentalist from Portland, USA, Rudy Klobas who is popularly known as POSY just dropped “In My Mind” featuring singer Denetia. The single is a part of his EP titled “Abroad”, which will be released worldwide on 2nd April 2021.
Excited about the release, “’In My Mind’ was the first song I started working on for this project and it took the shortest amount of time to complete”.
He reminisces on when he made the instrumental, he had been playing with a bunch of different African percussion instruments. He recently bought and wanted to find a way to use them on a track. The singer shared he first recorded the drums/percussion parts, then added guitars, and a few synthesizer layers over top. “The instrumental came together really quick”.
After he had the instrumental, he reached out to singer-songwriter-producer Denitia to see if she’d be open to writing a vocal part for it and within a few weeks she sent back a fully-formed song. “Denitia’s voice and lyrics fit the mood of the instrumental so well, it ended up being a great pairing”, he expressed.
Further, talking about “Abroad” EP centres around a period of time he spent traveling Japan in 2019. POSY travelled around the country for about a month, and used his portable recorder to capture various different sounds that caught his ear. That collection of sounds eventually became the foundation for this EP, each track utilizing a handful of different recordings ranging from bird calls recorded in Tokyo’s Yoyogi Park, to windchimes in the coastal town of Kawazu. He then noted the EP ended up taking about a year’s worth of work to complete, and throughout the recording process he brought in “a wide range of different musicians to help finish the five tracks”.
“Originally, I’d planned to play every instrument on the EP, but after a while I hit a creative wall and needed to bring in other musicians to help out”, revealed the artist. The vocalists on the EP–Denitia and Jennyfire–are both musicians that he found through Instagram. He expressed that he really loved the music that they were putting out, and felt like there’d be a natural fit with the type of songs he was working on.
The harp featured on several songs is played by Eleanor Turner, a UK-based musician that he asked to contribute some ideas to the EP. “Her contributions ended up playing an important role in the development of the overall sound of the EP”. Harp was always an instrument he loved hearing in music, so he wanted for that to be a central element of these songs.

Currently POSY has been more focused on writing material for his next EP and creating a live show that he’ll hopefully be able to test out later this year when live events start to come back. “Really looking forward to sharing some of the collaborations that are in the works at the moment!”, he concluded.
