MUMBAI: For the first time, Polish Jazz act ‘New Bone Quintent band’ is in the country to perform in Delhi and Jammu. They are likely to dedicate a song to CRPF jawans killed in a recent suicide attack.
The band is opening the 3rd edition of the International Jazz Festival, which is hosting 14 bands from a total of 10 countries including India.
Lead member of the band Tomasz Kudyk says, “My compositions are very melodious and romantic and I hope with our music we can uplift the mood of the people, especially in Jammu where we are heading next.”
When told about the very recent attack on CRPF jawans in Srinagar, Kudyk said he would like to dedicate a song to them. Five jawans of the 73 battalion CRPF were killed and 10 other persons including four civilians were injured in a suicide attack by two militants on their camp in Bemina area of Srinagar on Wednesday.
He added, “If I have a choice I would like to dedicate the ‘Attonowa’ song which is on the name of the street where I spent my childhood days.”
The three-day festival beginning on 15 March at the Nehru Park will also feature international bands like New South Africa Jazz Collective, Jorge Pardo Huellas Quartet from Spain, Imani from France, Sylvie Bourban from Switzerland, Oscar Acevedo Quartet from Colombia, Sachal Vasandanti from US, Ararat from Israel and Oleg Butmen Jazz Trio from Russia.
The band is scheduled to perform on 17 March in Jammu. Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs is organizing a first ever-international Jazz concert at Jammu.
