Ustad Zakir Hussain and flautist Rakesh Chaurasia clinched two joint awards for their song “Pashto” and the album “As We Speak,” to which the song belongs. “Pashto,” featuring American musicians Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyer, triumphed in the Best Global Music Performance category.
The song “Abundance in Millets” by Falu, featuring the PM, was also nominated in the same category. “As We Speak” secured another win in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album section. Zakir’s supergroup Shakti, featuring violinist L Shankar, percussionist Vikku Vinayakram, and British guitarist John McLaughlin, received the Best Global Music Album for “This Moment.”
Singer Shankar Mahadevan is also a member of this illustrious group.
