MUMBAI: Thirteen years after the release of his last studio album ‘Testify’, Phil Collins has now decided to “come out of retirement”. In his latest interview with Rolling Stone magazine, the singer said, “The horse is out of the stable and I’m raring to go” – emphasising that by next month, he will begin work on a new album titled ‘My Life In 15 Songs’.
The singer also expressed how his kids played a minor role in his bold decision. “My kids are 10 and 14 and they want to see what their dad does”, said the 62-year-old. Collins is currently working on reissuing of his solo albums – ‘Face Value’ (1981) and ‘Both Sides’ (1983)- both of which are slated to release in January next year. The ‘Easy Lover’ singer further shared possible plans for an international tour stating his desire to play in Australia and the Far East.
Collins, who is recovering from a major back surgery, said that he has killed time by watching TV in his Miami home-studio, where he plans to record the upcoming album. Since ‘Testify’, the multi-instrumentalist songwriter has worked on several projects, including a musical and a project with Jason Bonham.
