Percussionist Vivek Rajagopalan brings music to the board room

MUMBAI: Mumbai based percussionist Vivek Rajagopalan has invented a unique technique to help corporates learn team building, leadership qualities and improvisation skills through music. This new innovation which connects the principles followed by the corporate work culture to that of Music, Rhythms and Beats is called RythmInc.

Vivek explains the analogy between corporate principles and music theory by citing the example of a drummer. “The bass, snare or the kick hat subconsciously follows a beat, which, if heard independently are quite different from each other. However, it’s the same indifferent beat which makes a ‘groove’. Now, if you look at the corporate work culture, there are departments and employees work on different projects however work towards one single goal. Vivek further adds, “One does not need any music background or understanding of instruments. In fact, it can be done using props like tea spoons, bowls or even vocal sounds”.

Vivek has been conducting such workshops for the past three years, “The workshops have been successful and offers to conduct such workshops still keep coming”. In past, big corporate houses like Pepsi, Asian Paints, Hutch, and Coke have used Vivek’s innovative techniques to add some flavour to the otherwise monotonous annual meetings.

Blue Frog, one of India’s independent music labels is also supporting this initiative. Besides his innovative workshops Vivek will soon be launching his upcoming album ‘Moving Images’ under the Blue Frog label.
