“People should shift focus from bollywood to pop”: Raghav Sachar

MUMBAI: Multi-talented Raghav Sachar expressed his concern on the growing popularity of Bollywood music. He opined that the country has a lot of musical talent and its above time that people shift focus from bollywood to pop in the coming years.

In spite of working in bollywood, he said, “Indian music industry is Bollywood centric and it should change in the coming years. India has so much talent and I hope people listen more to pop than film music.”

Sachar plays more than 33 instruments and has completed 8 films as a music director, singer, arranger, multi instrumentalist and an actor.

Inspite of so many roles, he said, “Music is my bread butter. Other things are creatively interlinked. I like doing lot of other things but singing is my priority.”

Sachar has three upcoming projects lined up – one Punjabi film which is co-produced by him, and two other projects where he will be singing and composing music. Where albums are concerned the singer revealed that he has no plans. He has his own music album label ‘Raghav Sachar Music’ and has released eight subsequent albums under the label from 2009- 2012.  “I have my label so I have the freedom to do my own album. But currently no albums are planned.”

As a singer he personally enjoys performing live and had also performed at the World Economic Forum held in Davos in 2011. He added, “Live performance is the most enthralling experience; it gives you the direct connection to the audience. I was really disappointed as I didn’t attend ‘Gun N Roses’ live performance which happened in Mumbai and Delhi.” He also expressed his desire to become a part of reality shows.
