MUMBAI: Digital is in, authentic music is out. Simplicity is out, superficial music is in. Commercialisation has killed creativity. Euphoria’s lead singer Palash Sen has voiced his angst on all this and more in a video ‘What is going wrong in the music space’ which was released on 6 June 2016.
The ‘Maeri’ singer can be seen lamenting the current situation in the video. He says, “There was a time, when a lot of music used to exist in our country. Suddenly, the music vanished.” Do we ever ponder, why has it happened? The vocalist explained that it is because the music produced by film-industry is being controlled by marketing executives and businessmen. “They can just be dealers who know how to peddle music. The true essence of music is not their cup of tea,” he claims in the video.
“Money is the new God and greed is the new religion,” he pontificates further. He thinks the whole system works under the influence of money and the talent dwells under the wrap, just because platforms like radio, television, digital platforms are controlled by money lenders.

Referring to the recent case of Salman Khan and Arijit Singh where the playback singer apologised to the actor, Palash indirectly points out that even in the film industry, the musicians are always at the lowest in the pecking order. “Although this is unbelievable, it is not the first time when a musician apologised to an actor.”
But Palash does not seem to have lost all hope. He also shared that his band, Euphoria is releasing a single ‘Halla Bol’, in the month of June. In addition, Euphoria will release an album, late this year.
