MUMBAI: ‘Yeh Hum Naheen’ a non-profit foundation has brought together leading Pakistani artistes to initiate the world’s biggest anti-terror campaign. Singers like Shakeel, Zeba Bakhtiar, Nauman Ejaz, Samina and Usman Pirzada along with other popular TV and film stars and leading singers have expressed their commitment to the anti-terrorism cause, says a report in Pakistan’s The News.
A special song penned by Pakistan’s leading writer Ali Moeen states that the way the world knows Muslims is not who we are. This message was further driven by Strings, Shafqat Amanat Ali, Ali Haider, Ali Zafar, Haroon Rasheed, Hadiqa Kiyani and Shuja Haider sending a heartfelt cry to the world at large: ‘The stories being spread in our name are lies’, says the report.
The ‘Yeh Hum Naheen’ foundation was established in 2007 with top artistes of Pakistan coming together, and sending out a musical message to the world, stating that Muslims are not terrorists. The message was built upon the essence of Islam as a faith that promotes tolerance, peace and harmony, removing prejudices within the community and amongst non-Muslims around the world.
Primary objectives of the foundation are to develop awareness among people regarding issues of the growing radicalisation of Pakistani youth, to promote better understanding and co-existence among Muslims around the world, among non-Muslim communities and to clarify with strong action that the majority of Muslims do not support terrorism.
To achieve this goal, the foundation aims to use all modes of expression to get the message across nationwide in order to get Pakistanis to come forward and support this cause.
As many as 6,000 field operators have been appointed to collect signed forms from people all over Pakistan.
