Pak PM invites Lata Mangeskar to be state guest

MUMBAI: Pakistan’s desire to have the nightingale of India Lata Mangeshkar amongst them may well come true in the near future with Pakistan prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani inviting Mangeshkar to pay a visit to Pakistan as a state guest.

If and when Mangeshkar decides to visit the neighbouring country, she would be seated, in all her glory, with the higher ups of the Pakistan PM’s office.

It is said that the Pakistani PM is Mageshkar’s greatest fan in Pakistan with him always humming a song of the 81-year-old songstress. It may be recalled that during a dinner meeting with Pakistani singer Adnan Sami in Islamabad last week, Gilani raised the question of Lataji’s long-pending visit. She owes it to her fans in Pakistan, which includes me,… the Pakistani PM had remarked.

Comments Sami, I will personally escort her and will make sure that she is properly looked after. Lataji is a national treasure not only of India but of Pakistan too. Just the thought of her visit has filled Pakistani people with a feeling of elation. She must go there. I will make sure it happens….
