MUMBAI: Having created a mark for herself across the globe, multiple Grammy award winning singer Norah Jones enthralled Indian audience at her maiden performance for ‘A Summer’s Day’ festival in Mumbai.
Daughter of the late sitar virtuoso Pandit Ravi Shankar, the singer had earlier stated that it was a bittersweet experience for her to visit India, since her father had always wanted her to perform in the country and he wasn’t there to watch her performance.
The American jazz singer and songwriter dedicated her performance to her father. The festival also featured performances by acclaimed singer-songwriter Siddharth Basrur from Mumbai and one of the country’s most talented drummers Jivraj Singh from Kolkata.
The event was held yesterday evening at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse in the city. After Mumbai, Jones will be performing on 5-6 March in New Delhi and on 8 March in Bengaluru. The fest is being held in order to raise awareness on breast cancer.
