MUMBAI: Colors Infinity provided the privileged kids of the country a platform to showcase their talent in India’s first ever English singing talent hunt show – The Stage- last year. On 16 February, one-half of the jury panel at The Stage- Ehsaan Noorani and Monica Dogra- extended the essential support and motivation to the underprivileged kids of Mumbai. Colors Infinity’s initiative in association with Furtado’s School of Music hosted the children from Akanksha Foundation for an evening of meet and jam with the duo.
Speaking to Radioandmusic.com, Noorani expressed absolute delight to be a part of the initiative. Noorani and Dogra spent an hour with over 15 curious kids from the Foundation answering questions related to their respective musical journeys. “Akanksha Foundation has done an incredible job with these kids. Educating and teaching the underprivileged kids has been Akanksha Foundation’s motto since its inception and when the kids look up to you, it’s an amazing feeling and a responsibility,” said Noorani.
Dogra treated the kids by singing ‘We are the world’, as Noorani joined in when kids sang ‘Twinkle Twinkle’. Every kid present for the event was gifted with a guitar, an effort to ensure the passion for music continues.

Noorani emphasises on the importance of introducing music in the academic curriculum. “I have tweeted to the PM about it. And understandably, there was no response. It’s not about India. Even the western countries are trying to come up with a system that makes music compulsory for kids.”
On how to ensure these underpriviliged kids do not lose interest in music, Noorani replies, “Well, right now the kids are too young. Right now, we want them to enjoy it and make the most of it. But one visit, and I am assured, these kids love music.”
Ehsaan Noorani and Monica Dogra would return to the second season of The Stage, later this year. “So excited. Cannot wait for it,” adds Noorani.
