MUMBAI: Without any involvement of Submerge, Nikhil Chinapa is all set to direct a festival in North Goa, which is organised by LIVE Viacom 18. The festival which is yet to be named is planned for the next ten years. All thanks to his passion for music and his individual capacity to organise the EDM festival. Commenting on his vision for the dance music festival, he said, “I have got a very clear picture for the next ten years. 17 stages have been planned, out of which half will be for EDM (Electronic Dance Music). After three years, we even plan to organise camping,” said festival director, Chinapa to radioandmusic.com.
The five day festival will be a treat for all the attendees as they will have the opportunity to relish quality music of popular and underground electronic music genres. Since the space is small, the tickets are limited. The announcement of the festival came just a few weeks after he announced the spilt with Sunburn via a social networking site.
When questioned about Sunburn, Chinapa without any hesitation said, “The word about the fallout with Sunburn and me came out a while back. LIVE Viacom 18 approached me recently.” Clearing the air he further said, “It was not an orchestrated move. This conveniently displays my love for music and Goa. I just got this opportunity and this happened after parting ways with Sunburn.”
Chinapa’s association with Goa dates back to his college days as he traveled quiet often. Even DJ Pearl couldn’t keep herself away from Goa. “It is actually the love for beaches, sand, people and culture that attracts me to Goa.”
Permissions being the major hindrance for North Goa, he said, “We will make things easier for the flow of traffic. I hope that people who come to the festival not only enjoy music but also share the responsibility of not causing any form of discomfort.”
