MUMBAI: India’s biggest and grandest music festival – NH7 – announced the dates for 2016 editions, and the development carries some good and few bad news. The festival will not only explore new cities with the latest edition, but the event would undergo a new format too.
Hyderabad makes its first appearance on NH7’s venue list, and the turnout at couple of recently concluded electronic music festivals provide enough justification to OML’s (NH7 organiser) decision. Two of NH7’s regular venues since 2012 – Bengaluru and Delhi – did not make the cut for the 2016 edition. Shillong returns to NH7’s calendar, once again, as the festival opener for its second time, while the oldest venue – Pune – continues to act as the concluding venue for the seven-year-old initiative.

For the first time since its inception, NH7 will include ‘Express Editions’ concept that expands the festival to four new cities and Kolkata. The ‘Express Edition’ would treat the fans from the respective cities with a one-day affair through its Bacardi Main Stage arena. The Express Edition cities include Pondicherry, Jaipur, Nagpur and Mysore, along with Kolkata. Dates for these venues have not been revealed yet.
The festival will also organise 100 House Parties and several Bacardi Club Nights before the festival kicks off. The club nights and similar concepts, executed by few festivals before, act as promotional activities, thus, rightfully creating the hype.
