MUMBAI: Singer Neeti Mohan and Rochak Kohli, who had released audio of the reprised version of Pal from the Nawazuddin starrer, Monsoon Shootout in November 2017, have released a music video of the same recently. Showcasing a heart-touching story, depicting the pain of separation, the video features Mukti Mohan and Nihar Pandya besides Neeti and Rochak.
Neeti, who has collaborated with Rochak on various songs, including their first says, “I was jamming with Rochak for some other song. It is during this time; when he told me that he wants to do the reprise version of Pal. I was like why not?”
When asked about working with Rochak, Neeti adds, “He is such an incredible music composer and a dear friend. We had first worked on Sadi Gali along with Ayushmann Khurrana for Nautanki Saala. We have always loved to collaborate.”

Rochak Kohli, who has composed music for both the original and the reprised version of Pal said, “The original song was sung by Arijit Singh in Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Monsoon Shootout. Earlier, we wanted to do a female version of the original song, until we thought of doing something that is simple and would allow us to play with harmonies. So, in the song, you can see the use of a lot of harmonies.”
To this, Neeti adds, “Musically we wanted to sound very international. The song is different from that sung by Arijit Singh. We have tried to keep it minimal and emotional while making use of voices, guitar and harmonies.”
Speaking of its story, Neeti said, “We thought about a story of separation. It is in between ‘When we are together’ and ‘When we are not’.”
Neeti, whose latest song Kanha Re with sisters Mukti and Shakti has been greatly applauded, is uniting with sister Mukti with Pal Reprise. “It happened back-to-back. Actually, Pal was shot much before but Kanha Re happened to release first.”
When asked about reuniting with her sisters on future ventures, Neeti exclaimed, “Everybody is asking us after Kanha Re. This has definitely inspired us to come together. I just want to tell everyone that yes you can anticipate us three coming together in future. But, whenever we will come together, it would be fireworks.”
When it comes to Rochak, he is composing for Bollywood projects like Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga directed by Sherley Chopra Dhar. Speaking about this upcoming venture that stars Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Rajkummar Rao and Sonam Kapoor in the lead roles, the Paani Da Rang composer said, “It is a good project. I have worked for over a year on it now with Sherley, who is the director of the film. I have composed for the whole album of the film that has 5-6 songs.”
Rochak Kohli also will be composing for another movie, Music Teacher apart from singles, one of which can be anticipated with Ayushmann Khurrana.
Meanwhile, the lyrics of this pensive rendition are penned by Sumant Vadhera.
