MUMBAI: Bringing forth the musical confluence between Hindustani and Carnatic music, NCPA will host a concert ‘Uttar Dakshin: Interaction between Hindustani and Carnatic musicians’ on 6 September 2012.
The day long panel discussions would cover vocal, instrumental as well as the percussion traditions featuring Hindustani musicians like Ajoy Chakrabarty (vocal), Buddhadev Dasgupta (sarod) and Bickram Ghosh (tabla) along with Carnatic musicians such as TV Gopalkrishnan (vocal & mridangam), N Ravikiran (vocal & chitravina) and GJR Krishnan (violin).
The event will encourage a dialogue between eminent musicians, supported by demonstrations of both systems with a view to understand and benefit from the concepts and approaches adopted by the practitioners of respective systems.
Organized in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), the interactions will be moderated by Arvind Parikh and K Ganesh Kumar.
